Anjum, National Games Gold Medalist, praises Range facilities

After clinching a gold medal in the women's 50m Rifle 3P event at the 37th National Games in Goa, Anjum Moudgil chose to spend the remainder of her day exploring the popular beaches in the coastal state. Anjum, a two-time world championships medallist from Punjab, secured the top spot on the podium with a total score of 458.9, narrowly edging out her state mate, Sift Kaur Samra, who scored 458.2. Ashi Chouksey from Madhya Pradesh took home the bronze with a cumulative score of 445.5.

First trip to Goa:

Anjum expressed her delight at being in Goa for the first time, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere. She found it particularly satisfying to win the gold earlier in the day and decided to make the most of her visit by exploring popular hangouts before her return to Chandigarh the following day.
Having competed in Goa for the first time, Anjum commended the conditions and infrastructure at the Mandrem Shooting Range, located around 40 kilometers from Panaji, where the shooting competitions of the 37th National Games are taking place.

Upcoming challenges:

Following her victory at the National Games, the 29-year-old shooter is set to head back to Chandigarh for Diwali holidays. However, her break will be brief as she prepares for the National Shooting Championships, commencing on November 24 at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Faridabad. Anjum's next goal is to perform well at the senior nationals and maintain the momentum from her gold medal win at the National Games.

Olympic aspirations:

Anjum, who narrowly missed out on a 2024 Paris Olympic quota, is determined to earn her spot by excelling in the upcoming selection trials for the quadrennial event next year. India has already secured quotas for the 2024 Paris Olympics in the women's 10m Air Rifle and 50m women's Rifle 3P events, thanks to young talents like Tilottama Sen, Mehuli Ghosh, Shriyanka Sadangi, and Sift Kaur Samra. However, the final selection for the Games will be determined by the National Olympic Committees.

Anjum is determined to maintain her performance level and secure her spot on the flight to the French capital in the upcoming trials for the Paris Olympics.
